Don Duong - Piano

Don Duong
Piano

Don Duong comes from the San Luis Obispo area of California, and has been a pianist for 15 years.  His first musical experiences included piano lessons at age 10 and playing the baritone horn in band.  Don studied under Dr. Botso Korisheli of Morro Bay, CA, who remained his piano instructor for eight years.   In the spring of 2000, he was a finalist in the Alice Nelson Music Competition, as well as the winner of the Allied Arts Music Competition.  A participant in the 1999 & 2000 Paso Robles Paderewski Festival, Don went on to place second in the 2001 Betty Evans Competition in Cambria.

While attending Cuesta Community College in 2000, he studied piano with Dr. Rudolf Budginas.  In the fall of 2002, Don began teaching piano lessons to young students in the area.  Don's positive experience in teaching led him to pursue a degree in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Oregon, where he studied piano under Claire Wachter and Dean Kramer.  He graduated in the Spring of 2006.

Currently, Don is pursuing his MA in Piano Pedagogy at CSU Fullerton, and is studying with Dr. Martha Baker-Jordan and Eduardo Delgado.
